User Agreement

The Pod HPC cluster is a resource for scientific research made available through the support of the National Science Foundation (NSF). All research activities carried out on Pod must adhere to NSF guidelines for intellectual property and for the dissemination and sharing of research results. The relevant information is outlined in Chapter XI, section D.4 of the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) and in the NSF’s public access policy.

NSF Policies

To comply with these regulations, the CSC requires all users of Pod to do the following:

Users will promptly prepare and submit for publication all significant findings from work carried out on Pod and will acknowledge NSF support in such publications in the following terms: “Use was made of the computational facilities administered by the Center for Scientific Computing at the CNSI and MRL (an NSF MRSEC; DMR-2308708) and purchased through NSF CNS-1725797.”
Upon publication acceptance, the user will send an email to pod-pubs@cnsi.ucsb.edu that includes both the DOI number for the publication and a PDF/A (archival PDF) file of the “final accepted version” of the publication. Do not simply send a copy of the “version of record” obtained from the publisher website; these files may not comply with PDF/A standards and may be owned by the publisher under copyright law. The CSC is required to send PDF/A copies of all publications acknowledging CNS-1725797 to the NSF for inclusion in the NSF Public Access Repository. Further details may be found in the link above.
The NSF requires users to share their data with other researchers upon request. It is the responsibility of individual users to archive the primary data and associated metadata associated with work carried out on Pod to enable this sharing. Pod cannot be used for archival purposes. Upon project completion, all data must be migrated off Pod to a suitable repository. You are responsible for understanding and complying with NSF policy regarding the sharing of research results associated with the use of Pod.

Failure to comply with requirements 1,2 & 3 will result in suspension of your user account.
